SEND and Inclusion

Hello and welcome to Inclusion at Hanham Primary Federation. I am the Inclusion Leader/SENDCO and Assistant Headteacher at the Federation. I have held this role for many years and bring over 20 years of experience as an Inclusion Leader, both in the UK and at an international school.

Mrs Lees, Inclusion Lead and SENCo

I am deeply passionate about promoting positive inclusion and am committed to ensuring that all of our pupils, particularly those with barriers to learning, have access to the best possible opportunities. As a senior leader, I advocate for pupils with additional needs, ensuring that their voices are heard and that development plans reflect the highest standards of provision and expectations.

Building strong relationships with parents is a priority at our federation, particularly for the families of children with additional needs. We are dedicated to ensuring that parents feel listened to and confident that their child’s needs are being met within our capacity.
I work closely with teachers to implement our Inclusion Compelling Framework, where we recognise that high-quality teaching for pupils with additional needs leads to high-quality teaching for all.

What our parents/carers say...

“My daughter has received the best support throughout her time at Samuel White’s and Hanham Abbotts. The provision for special needs teaching and learning and the added interventions have allowed my daughter to thrive in every area. The staff all know her so well and they have gone above and beyond to meet her changing needs. They really care about every child and work closely with families to achieve the best for everybody.”

What our parents/carers say...

“The Inclusion team help to remove any barriers my child has to learning and put in place provision that will enable him to benefit fully from his education. My child is actively encouraged to talk about his feelings/worries in order to make him feel heard, valued and cared about which is imperative. They work so hard to ensure all SEN children are achieving, even when things are made difficult with cuts and funding etc they still remain committed and determined to make sure their pupils are thriving.”

Pupil and Family Support...

“Mrs Dimond has always been there for me and my children when needed. She has supported me through hard times when we were struggling. My children always knew that if they were feeling down or just needed to talk they could easily approach Mrs Dimond. I couldn’t speak more highly of her due to her ongoing support through the years.”

Mental Health Support...

“We found this session really informative. There were some great tips for grounding techniques.”

“We thought we had tried everything but learnt loads of new tools today!.”

Pupil and Family Support...

“I can’t thank the whole team at HPF and Mrs Dimond in her role as Student & Family Support. My children have thrived after a very tough couple of years, so much support and understanding from the HPF Community, the children know they have someone who will listen, care and provide reassurance at anytime if needed. I feel so honoured to be part of an amazing school community.”

Mental Health Support...

“The session was great and it was very interesting to hear of other providers in the area that can support!”

Hanham Primary Federation have a strong inclusion offer that is led by a passionate and dedicated leader who has the full support of her leadership team. Inclusion is the golden thread at Hanham Primary. It has been an absolute pleasure to be part of the review team for the past two years and see the strength-based approach secure positive outcomes for all pupils. Y6 books in particular demonstrated the progress made by SEND support pupils. The leadership model has impacted middle leaders’ approach to their role so they always have a lens on SEND as part of the monitoring cycle.
