Young Leadership

At Hanham Primary Federation, we believe that children are incredibly skilled at supporting each other and contributing to the greater good of our school community. We are committed to nurturing this potential by encouraging our pupils to take on leadership roles that empower them to make a positive difference every day.

Our young leaders play an active role in shaping school life through a variety of important responsibilities, including:

  • School Council: Representing their peers and having a voice in school decisions.
  • Opal Play Leaders: Leading creative and inclusive play activities that promote enjoyment and teamwork.
  • Year 6 and Reception Buddies: Supporting younger pupils to feel confident and welcomed.
  • Library Monitors: Helping to maintain a love of reading and a well-organised library space.
  • Sustainability Stars: Championing eco-friendly initiatives across the school.
  • Music Leaders: Inspiring others through music and performance opportunities.

These roles, among many others, help our pupils develop independence, responsibility, and perseverance—key values that drive our ambition for every child to flourish.

By fostering pupil agency and leadership, Hanham Primary Federation builds a community where every child is confident, curious, and ready to contribute positively to both school life and the wider world.
