Class Dojo
Rewards
As a Federation, we use Class Dojo as a positive approach to managing, rewarding and monitoring behaviour. Children are given a ‘dojo point’ for positive behaviours such as concentrating, kindness and reading at home.
To celebrate collective positive behaviour, each class is rewarded with a class treat (e.g. pyjama day) each time they reach 1000 points as a class.
When parents sign up to Class Dojo, they will be able to see their child’s dojo points, as well as other the functions that the platform has to offer.
Sanctions
To protect children’s self-esteem, sanctions are given as discreetly. As a Federation, we use stepped sanctions to address inappropriate behaviour and give children the chance to make better choices:
Class Dojo Messages
The message facility on Class Dojo is a platform for teachers and parents, particularly those who are unable to see teachers at the start/end of the school day, to communicate about home learning activities and to communicate non-urgent messages. Parents sending messages to members of staff via Class Dojo should not expect an instant response. Class teachers are busy teaching the children during the school day and will only be able to respond during limited times. School staff are not expected to respond to messages during evenings, weekends and school holidays. We politely request that parents are considerate of the number and regularity of messages that they are sending.
Parents must contact the school office on 01454 866576 with any urgent messages or messages that require a prompt response, including any changes to your child being collected from school. Any absences need to be reported to the Attendance Officer before 9am on 01454 866576 option 1 or preferably email the school at absence@hanhamprimaryfederation.org. It is important that these messages are communicated to the office because class teachers might not read messages in time and could even be absent from school themselves (e.g. being unwell or on a course).

- Thanking staff
- Sharing good news
- Asking questions
- Non-urgent messages
Unacceptable messages:
- Abuse
- Urgent messages
- Inappropriate content
- Complaints
