Attendance
The Hanham Primary Federation is committed to giving every child the opportunity to achieve their best. As every day counts in the classroom and being at school regularly and on time is vital, we monitor attendance on a daily basis.
We ask that all parents:
- Ensure their child/children attend school regularly and on time.
- Contact the absence line (01454 866576 option 1) or email absence@hanhamprimaryfederation.org to report any absence by 9am.
- Let the school know of any concerns that may impact their child’s attendance.

Please ensure that you let the school know each day before 9am if your child will be absent from school.
1 day per week – 8 weeks missed. You wouldn’t not send children to school for a whole term. Sometimes 1 day a week is perceived as more acceptable but it is not and has significant impact on learning.
10 days per year – is equivalent to 50 lessons missed, creates gaps in learning. Almost 2 terms of English lessons. We wouldn’t want children to miss out on 2 terms of English lessons as we know they would fall behind.
Learning is cumulative. Absence disrupts flow of learning – lessons planned in sequence, this first, then this, then this. This is important in learning to make it make sense and stick. If children are away for any of a sequence, they will find it harder to understand the content being taught to them.
