Behaviour – Class Dojo

ClassDojo –

As a federation, we use Class Dojo as a positive approach to managing, rewarding and monitoring behaviour. Children are given a ‘dojo point’ for positive behaviours such as concentrating, kindness and reading at home. To celebrate collective positive behaviour, each class is rewarded with a class treat (e.g. pyjama day) each time they reach 1000 points as a class. When parents sign up to Class Dojo, they will be able to see their child’s dojo points, as well as other the functions that the platform has to offer.

To protect children’s self-esteem, sanctions are given as discreetly as possible. As a federation, we use stepped sanctions to address inappropriate behaviour and give children the chance to make better choices:

Reading Platforms

Reading Eggs –

Reading Eggspress –

The school subscribes to Reading Eggs and Reading Eggspress to support children with their reading and spelling. These online platforms supplement children’s learning in school with individualised learning at home: /

When children first log in, they will need to complete a placement test to enable the program to pitch books and activities to their individual ability. For this reason, we encourage parents not to help children with the test.

Reading Eggs is suitable for Reception and Year 1 children and Reading Eggspress is designed for children in Year 2 and above. Both platforms provide a Library with over 2500 books. The library is not affected by the placement test, but books can be filtered by age. Teachers may also set homework using both Reading Eggs and Reading Eggspress.

Doodlemaths –

Across the Hanham Primary Federation, we use Doodle Maths to support children with their maths learning and consolidation of their understanding at home. Doodle Maths is an online platform that supplements school learning with individualised learning at home:

By regularly practising skills at home, children will embed and consolidate what they have learned at school.

Parents are able to use their own login to view their child’s progress. We encourage parents to not give children the answers to questions on Doodle Maths. The questions generated by the platform are based on what individual children achieve so that they are matched to their ability.

Teachers may also set homework for children using Doodle Maths. These activities will need to be completed before other areas can be accessed. Your child will see any homework set by their teacher when they log in.
